Book A Lecture

Every year I present many unique keynote lectures, workshops, and informal garden talks, coast to coast, for Master Gardeners (national, regional, and state levels), garden clubs, horticulture societies, botanic gardens, universities, library groups, banquets, and more. Been known to deliver inspirational talks from the back of my antique pickup truck – the one with the well-traveled garden planted in the back! (click here for a peek)

I have appeared at countless flower shows, often multiple times, including (to drop just a few place names) in Chicago, Seattle, Philadelphia, San Diego, Denver, Atlanta, Dallas, Boston, New York, Charlotte, Norfolk, Memphis, Los Angeles, Houston, Indianapolis, and Minneapolis, and have been the keynote expert several times at Disney’s International Festival of Flowers in Orlando.

I am best known for my illustrated talks on hardy and “pass-along” heirloom plants, yard art, recycled container gardening, home food production, culinary herbs, youth gardening, native plants and wildflowers, wildlife and pollinator gardening, plant swaps, and especially my signature Slow Gardening. Every talk is fact-filled but thoughtful and humorous anecdotes, always custom-crafted for the audience and program theme using evocative local and regional photos.

My fees are considered very reasonable by professional standards, but vary depending on how far I have to travel, how long I am away from my beloved garden, and how many unique presentations per trip; I am happy to bring any of my numerous books for sale and signing. Oh, and I am most happy to provide current references or recommendations.
